Inspo

I'm so happy to be home after a stressful semester at school. While I've been home I've spent a lot of time relaxing and scrolling through Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. I figured I would share pictures that have been inspiring me this season.

I'm happy to be back on my blog and I promise to post more often! It'll be easier now that I'm in less classes this next semester. Thanks for stopping by!

Delicates

I love the look of a chunky knit paired with something delicate like a lace bralette.

Pullovers

Pullovers are a great way to dress down an outfit and make it more casual. I like to pair pullovers with black skinny jeans and a statement shoe.

Coats

Unlike pullovers, big statement coats are the perfect way to dress up a more casual outfit. My two favorite styles include big (faux) fur coats and oversized menswear inspired coats.
Sidenote... the red sock and snake skin slip on combo is amazing and I need them both!

Skin Care: Must Haves

If there is one thing that I believe a person should invest in, it is without a doubt your skin. Here are some personal tips I have on skin care, as well as products that I love and swear by.

First and foremost, DRINK. WATER. and lots of it. And when you think you've had enough for the day, drink some more. There are a plethora of benefits that come with drinking enough water. Some people have said to drink your weight in oz. of water daily, and others say about 8-10 glasses a day. By drinking this much water, you're improving the way you look and the way you feel.
Drinking water helps to:
  • clear your skin
  • keep your skin hydrated
  • maintain your body's fluid balance
  • control the amount of calories you consume
  • + 100,000,000 other reasons but you get the point...
I would recommend trying to stick to solely drinking water while eating, or drinking water along with something else, whether it be just eating at home or out at a restaurant... water is always a good idea.

Now for skin care products, here are some that I use currently or have used in the past and I swear by.

Face Wash:

Recently I've been using face washes with subtle exfoliants in them. I feel like they're better at taking off any excess makeup than any foam cleanser. However, I use these after using makeup remover on my eyes and face. Don't rely on these cleansers to do both jobs.

GLAMGLOW: YOUTHCLEANSE Daily Exfoliating Cleanser $39 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

This is the cleanser that I'm currently using. This high end cleanser is a "mud-to-foam", which I've never even heard of before. That being said, it's an amazing cleanser, and it's completely worth the $39 price tag. It's an anti-aging cleanser intended to smooth fine lines, and improve radiancy of the skin. You only need to use a pump for the entire face, so this product will last a while. I honestly don't know how to describe the smell of the cleanser, but it's not a powerful smell that some people could find irritating. The only word I could think of is a muddy but clean smell, if that makes sense (it probably doesn't).

Lush: Angels on Bare Skin $13.95-$33.95 (available at Lush, in store and online)

I've been using this cleanser on-and-off for years now, and it's amazing. I buy the size that's only $14 and it lasts for months. Lush is a natural cosmetic brand, so their products expire (the expiration date is always on a sticker on the packaging). I usually barely use the entire jar before the expiration date comes around. With finely ground almonds and lavender flowers, this soothing cleanser always leaves my skin feeling super soft and hydrated.

St Ives: Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub $4.29 (available at CVS and Target)

This face exfoliating scrub is more harsh on the skin, so I would only use it once or twice a week. It leaves my face feeling fresh, clean, and super soft! The only negative with this is that the smell kind of bothered me. But that's just my personal opinion, it does a really good job at exfoliating, and you can't beat that price.

Toner:

Lush: Tea Tree Water $9.95-$21.95 (available at Lush, in store and online)

This toner is my favorite. I even bought a bottle for my boyfriend and made him use it, but he loves it too! This is an anti-bacterial toner spray, and the tea tree helps get rid of acne scarring. I spray this after I wash my face at night and when I wake up in the morning. I also spray it before/after I work out because I'm sure there's tons of nasty germs everywhere at the gym, not to mention the sweat that comes with working out. You can also just spray this on your body anywhere that gets those red bumps from clogged pores. This is a product that I always recommend to my friends.

Moisturizer:

I don't have distinctly dry or oily skin, but moisturizers are a must. It's important to keep your skin happy and hydrated, and these moisturizers do it best.

Josie Maran: Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment $56 (available at Sephora, online and in store)

This hydrating treatment is amazing. It's a bit more of an investment, but it is totally worth it. I use it after I wash my face, and it really does keep my skin looking and feeling super hydrated. Also, I die for the packaging! Not that that's necessarily important with face products, but it is what drew me to it.

Clinique: Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief  $39 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

I like this moisturizer because it's a lightweight gel formula rather than a lotion, so you can put it on in the morning and it won't feel heavy.

Eye Cream:

It may seem early to start using anti-wrinkle or anti-aging eye cream, but I will be thanking myself when I'm crows feet free at 50.

Origins: Plantscription Anti-Aging Power Eye Cream $45 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

I know that I'm only 19, but it's better to start early with anti-aging products. I think the best time to start buying anti-aging products would be late teens/early 20's. This eye cream has algae and chamomile making it really soothing to put on before bed. I love Origins products because they're free of Parabens and Sulfates.

Masks:

For me, masks are a must. The options for masks are endless, and they're available everywhere, from the drug store to any high end department store. There are sheet masks, peeling masks, and regular face masks that rinse off.

GLAMGLOW: YOUTHMUD TINGLEXFOLIATE TREATMENT  $19-$69 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

I can't get myself to pay $70 for a face mask so I just buy the $19 one. I don't put this mask all over my face, usually I just put it on acne spots and on my nose. This mask visibly draws out any clogged pores and impurities, and you can actually see them as the mask dries (which is cool and also really gross). The $19 size is pretty small, but if you only put it on spots it really will last a while.

Origins: Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask To Clear Pores $25 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

This mask works to draw out impurities and unclog pores. My face always feels fresh and clean after using this mask. And for the price of $25, it is a pretty good deal. Again this is an Origins product, so it's free of Sulfates an Parabens.

Dr. Jart+: Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask $7.50 (available at Sephora, in store and online)

I love all of the Dr. Jart+ sheet masks. This mask works to replenish the skin and hydrate it. I would recommend checking out all of this company's sheet masks at Sephora.

Lush: Mask of Mangaminty  $12.95 (available at Lush, in store and online)

I've been using this mask for a while and I still love it. It contains peppermint which makes it cool and tingly, and also honey and vanilla that make it soothing. It also works as an exfoliating wash as you rinse it off, so it really lives up to its reputation as the "ultimate face mask".

If you actually made it this far... thank you for reading! If you have any face products that you swear by, let me know and I'll try them. :-)

Disclaimer: none of these photos are my own, I got them from Sephora.com and Lushusa.com

Statement Brows: How To

Heeeeey Friends!!!!

I get a fair amount of complements and questions about how I do my eyebrows and what products I use, etc. and I felt that it would make a good video for me to film!

Disclaimer: These bushes growing above my eyeballs are all natural. I know I have pretty light blonde hair--I always have--and my brows belong on a brunette. That being said, I've never dyed them nor have I ever bleached them to look more natural with my hair color.

The way that I maintain and fill in my brows might not work for others, but I think that the basic technique that I use would work for most people.
It's been almost 3 weeks since I posted my last video, which was totally not the plan. I filmed a makeup look THREE. TIMES. and I hated it every single time. Finally I noticed how unruly my brows had gotten and decided to film how I do them.

Enjoy these sweet screenshots from my latest video (<- you can watch it by clicking on those underlined words right there)

1. I don't really care for eyebrow waxing, I usually get them waxed around every 3-4 months. In between waxes I take any old tweezers (the ones I use suck, but they get the job done...somewhat) and pluck the strays growing underneath. I stay away from tweezing the top of my brows completely.
I do, however, have to pluck the unibrow about once a week. Those little hairs are crazy ones!

2. After I tweeze them, I take a spoolie brush (the one I use is from Crown Brush and was $2 at GenBeauty, but you could just take the little sample ones from Sephora) and I brush my eyebrow hairs in an upward motion while also spinning the brush, making it easier to trim them.
Hopefully this is common sense, but NEVER trim from the base of the brow hair. You would never cut your hair at the root if you just wanted a little trim... right?

3. To fill them in, I've been using the It Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil in the shade Universal Taupe. Pencils are more precise and make it a lot easier to fill in any sort of gaps or bald spots. Using a pencil also helps to make the brows look natural.
Using small strokes imitates the look of hairs, so I do that over my entire brow to fill in any sort of spots I may have. First, I use a sideways motion with the pencil, then I do upward strokes.
If you outline your entire brow, it will end up looking extremely boxy and fake... and that sh*& ain't cute, okay? Small. Light. Brush strokes.

4. Finally, to set the whole thing, I've been using the Benefit Speed Brow. Speed Brow is a gel with a super light tint of color that will dry and keep your eyebrows in place. If I were to recommend any brow product, it would definitely be a brow gel. A good quality tinted brow gel will do two jobs at once.
If you don't want to go out and buy an $18 brow gel, you could totally spray some hairspray onto a spoolie as an alternative.

5. When I feel like my brows are looking kind of heavy, I'll use a highlight stick underneath my eyebrows to open up my eyes. The one I used in this video is the Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter that I got in my goodie bag at GenBeauty.

Thanks for reading! I'll talk to you guys in a quick minute. Hopefully I'll get into a routine of filming. I have tons of video ideas but it's hard to find the time. It will most likely be harder at school but this is something I'm so passionate about, so I will work super hard and do whatever it takes to get videos up!!!

MAC Giambattista Valli

I've been waiting for some time now for this lipstick collection to come out, and it was well worth the wait to say the least. The Giambattista Valli lipstick collection for MAC is seriously beautiful! The packaging is so fun but classy at the same time. Not to mention the lipstick tubes are the same color of the actual lipstick, which makes digging through your makeup drawers or purse to find your lipstick a lot easier.
All of the 5 colors are a matte finish, however they are super smooth and not drying at all (like a good amount of matte lipsticks). I would definitely recommend going out and getting yourself some of these colors before they sell out (every color is sold out online already)! I'm guessing that this collection will sell out in stores pretty quickly. I called last night to put the 5 colors on hold because I knew some would be gone when I went by MAC around 2:30 today, and sure enough there were 2 sold out already...!

This collection also included a gloss, but I didn't see the point in buying it because I never wear glosses.

The packaging on this collection is beautiful!! It's hard to tell from this picture but its a white floral print.

From left to right:
Euginie, Charlotte, Tats, Margherita, and Bianca B

(please excuse my nails and marker on my finger...)

Euginie: "Dark cherry with a blue undertone"

Charlotte: "Rich yellow red"

Tats: "Bright hot pink" I would say it's more of a fuchsia than hot pink

Margherita: "Yellow bright peach"

Bianca B: "Pale white pink"

Overall, the collection is beautiful. The colors are so pigmented and all so unique. The only color I could see myself having a little bit of trouble wearing is Bianca B, because it is such a milky white pink color, however it could look really pretty with a gloss! I'll have to try it to figure out how to wear it.

ALSO! Check out my YouTube page. I have a lot of videos planned, but with work and workouts all week its hard to find a lot of time to film, but I will try my hardest to get videos up every week!

6.14.15

Today I decided to be a little adventurous with my makeup (disclaimer: adventurous... for me) and I did a peachy/mauve eye look with bright orange lips. I'm really liking these NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams and I'm doing a review on them! I'm currently wearing the color "Morocco"

As you can see I was watching KathleenLights on YouTube while I was getting ready.. she's one of my favorite beauty gurus. Along with Desi Perkins, Chrisspy, PatrickStarrr, and (obviously) Judy!!! I'm forgetting a lot but those are currently my favorites.

The colors I used on my eyes are:
Soft Ochre Paint Pot for a base
Blanc Type (top right)
Soft Brown (middle right)
Paradisco (single eyeshadow)

Here's my makeup collection and storage video!!!
If you have a youtube account feel free to subscribe! I'm working on editing, and saving up for a new camera to use :)

6.5.15 (NATIONAL DONUT DAY)

Some inspiration :)

Today was National Donut Day. Is it just me or does it seem as if there's a National Donut Day at least once a month? I mean don't get me wrong, I don't mind a day dedicated to donuts once a month, I just find it odd.

Anyway, here's what I wore today. I went to the mall to catch up with a friend and then got my mom some birthday goods.

Hat: Urban Outfitters
Shirt/Dress: Urban Outfitters this is a men's shirt that I bought in a size Large, and I wear it as a dress
Socks: gifted, and greatly appreciated.
Shoes: Steve Madden. They match my hat perfectly

Im in love with this outfit, and I may wear it again tomorrow... :D

I bought the Kat Von D Shade and Light contour palette from Sephora today FINALLY.
I also saw the Shade and Light eyeshadow palette too and I'm definitely picking that up after I get my next paycheck.

ALSO. I'm completely re-doing my makeup storage, so that will probably be my next post

Generation Beauty 2015

Last weekend, Brooke and I drove up to LA to go to Ipsy's Generation Beauty event. When we got to the hotel, I was oh-so-kindly greeted by a middle aged foreign man who opened my car door for me. He told me that he doesn't work at the hotel but he thought that I was attractive. It's like... that's nice, but this older man my dad's age invading my personal space? It was a weird moment.

Day 1 of Gen Beauty was pretty overwhelming. There were tons and tons of girls (and guys), but it was crazy be in that environment. I'm used to only having 1 or 2 friends that I talk to about youtube, but this was a place filled with everyone just like Brooke and I. And it was awesome. Brooke and I also got to meet Judy Travis (itsjudytime and itsjudyslife on youtube) and that was so great! She's someone we both watch regularly and look up to, and to meet her together was so cool and something  that I never thought would happen.

If you love makeup, I suggest attending Gen Beauty. Everything is on a crazy sale!!! I did some serious damage.
The swag bags were also filled with really good products. Most were sample sizes, but there were some full sized products in there! Day two's swag bag had more skin care, and I can't wait to test out the products.

Day 2 wasn't as hectic as day 1, we got to say Desi Perkins, but we didn't wait in line to meet her. Tbh I didn't want to get a picture with her because she is so tiny and so gorgeous that I would have looked like a wildabeast next to her. I couldn't do it.

Tarte was having a crazy sale where palettes were $20 and majority of everything else was only $10. Obviously I took advantage of that sale, and got $300 worth of products for only $70. (Not pictured, a palette and mascara that I bought for my mom)

BROOKE AND I MADE ITSJUDYSLIFE'S VLOG :)

After going to Generation Beauty, I felt like I had enough makeup to last me a lifetime and that never have to buy any more, BUT I just bought some today....... i have issues.

Thanks for reading :-)

Also i started a youtube channel and posted a video!!!  It was really awkward and I tried 20 times over the course of 2 hours and finally was like f**k it I'm doing this in one take on my phone and I'm uploading it. So here it is.
