Seamlessly Transition from Summer to Fall

Summer's over and Fall is almost here! Fall is my favorite season fashion-wise. The coats, cardigans, jeans and boots... and the colors! Deep reds and olive greens, ocean blues and dark browns. There's nothing better.

But if you live in California, you know that we don't really have fall weather until November. So until the weather gets below 70 degrees, here are some ways to incorporate some pieces of your summer wardrobe into your fall style.

Way #1: Outerwear + Shorts
My personal favorite. I'm really into big chunky cardigans, and throwing one over a silk tank and shorts is the perfect way to bring the two seasons together. If you're looking for a good basic cardigan check out the ones on ASOS.com

Way #2: Slips + Long Sleeves
Slips are for sure one of the staple items in my closet. There are so many ways to wear the same one. I usually wear mine on their own with a denim jacket, but recently I've been into wearing my slip tanks and dresses over tee's and long sleeves.

Way #3: Sweaters + Shorts
Thinking about pairing a sweater with jeans right now makes me sweat. For this transition stage between summer and fall I'll be pairing my sweaters with some cute shorts.

Way #4: BOOTIES!
I'm seriously considering changing my blog name to Bootie Queen. I really might. The obsession with booties is WAY too real. One way to take your summer outfit and make it look more fall-ish (not a word) is to swap the sandals or sneakers for a sweet pair. Without a doubt, Jeffrey Campbell is the king of booties. They can also make great statement. Here's some of my current favorites.

Friday Fashion Favorites- Nordstrom Sale Addition

Hi all!
Not sure if you've heard.. but Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale is open to everyone TODAY (July 22). Thanks to the Nordstrom card I was able to take a sneak peak at the items and bought a few! Here are my favorites... I purchased all but one- I'm still debating.

Patchwork Oversized Cardigan- Topshop

Super cute and I LOVE the neutral color blocking! Definitely something that works more in the cold weather, but as you can see above the cardigan looks just as good with a skirt or shorts!

'Anni' Crystal Choker Necklace- Cristabelle

I am choker obsessed! I chose the black crystal rather than the usual clear color because I felt that it would make it easier to edge up a girly outfit. I'll probably be wearing this with my black lace slip dress from Urban Outfitters!

Flat Brim Wool Hat- Hinge

This deep red will make it so easy to add a pop of color to my usual neutral outfits. I would wear this with the color block cardigan (pictured above), or with a plain tee and jeans.

'Melaya' Over the Knee Boot- Vince Cammuto

These boots are perfect for the more every day look. I am so in love with the Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots, but those are like $700.. in my dreams. However, I love that these boots are easy to add to any outfit in order to dress it up or down. I would probably wear these with an outfit similar to the model, or I also think I would wear them with a short black slip dress as well.

LASTLY...

Contrast Panel Duster Coat- Topshop

Now I haven't bought this coat yet- still trying to decide if I will really wear it often, but I love it!! It looks great with an outfit like the one pictured above-denim and sneakers, it would (again) look cute over a slip, or even with a body suit and cut off shorts! Still trying to decide! But lets be real, I will probably end up with it.

Skin Care: My Routine

Hi all,
After finally clearing a recent breakout, I figured that the perfect post to write about was what I used to clear it. In high school I didn't necessarily deal with an extreme case of acne, but I had my fair share of serious breakouts. After trying almost everything to clear my face, I realized that the most important thing to keep clear skin is drinking a lot of water. It's also really important to invest in your skin. If you're going to splurge on one thing, I say splurge on skin care. There are, however, some really affordable and natural products that I use as well.

Finally, here are the products that I swear by and use daily.

Cleanser: Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil

This definitely is not a splurge item, but I really do love it. The smell is kind of strong but I prefer using oils to a foaming facial cleanser that will dry out my skin.

Serum: iS CLINICAL Active Serum

THIS... This is the product that I recommend the most. This is a pricy serum (over $100) and before you hate me, let me tell you that this is heaven sent. I went home over Christmas with 6 zits on my face-all in a line near my mouth, of course- and they were driving me insane. My mom told me to use this before bed, and I swear.... the next morning they were almost gone. ALL 6 OF THEM. The day after that they were gone and a couple days later the scars were gone as well. This product not only helps with acne, but also with anti-aging, so I use it even when my skin is clear. This is my holy grail skin care product. You need it.

Night Cream: Burt's Bees Intense Hydration

Not only is this hydrating, but I also have noticed that it's helped to keep my skin clear. It's crazy thick so you would think that it clogs your pores, but it doesn't. Swear.

Spot Treatment: Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

Everyone and their mother has heard of/tried this, and it really does work. Make sure that when you use this you don't shake the bottle and keep it separated. I dip a q-tip down straight to the bottom and pull it up and then simply apply it to any spots that I have. I use it right before I go to bed, and I wake up with noticeably reduced breakouts!

Last but not least...... COFFEE SCRUBS!!!!

My personal favorite: ScrubxNation

This is an all natural scrub that has helped to keep my skin looking and feeling fresh. Along with the ground coffee and sugar, these scrubs also contain coconut oil- which, by the way, is crazy beneficial for your skin- and they smell amazing. Normal exfoliators leave my face feeling extremely dry, but I love that I can feel the coconut oil on my skin after I rinse the scrub off. That being said, if you have oily skin, don't let that scare you. The oil will sink into your skin leaving you looking fresh and glowing rather than oily. The one that I use is called "Amaze Mint", and I'm crazy about it. Check out ScrubxNation's Etsy shop HERE.

Friday Fashion Favorites

I'm so happy to be back at school in San Diego, especially because this semester I get to take history of costume and fashion retail! My schedule is also much more open this semester, giving me more time to do things like blog posts!! I also just got a job so I'm stoked to start working.

Here are my Friday Favorites:

Favorite Color Combo:
Black & brown. I've heard plenty of times to stay away from mixing browns and blacks but personally I love it. Black is my favorite color to wear clothing wise, but brown is most definitely not. That's why when it comes to mixing the colors, I stick to brown accessories. Today I wore a plain black tee, black jeans, and black booties and I incorporated brown by adding my brown suede backpack and belt.

Backpack: $$$

Belt: Free People $38

How I wore it today ^

Favorite Accessories:
I've been obsessed with Dior's sunglasses this season, but I can't get myself to spend $500 on a pair! I came close to buying the Reflected sunglasses yesterday, until I went into Free People and found some that I actually liked more for only $20!

Top Down Aviator: Free People $20

I've also been into wearing bandanas and scarves like the one pictured below. They help to break up any outfit.
Top Notch Skinny Tie: Free People $12

Layering dainty necklaces is also something that I've been doing a lot lately. I'm not much of a necklace person but I love the look of dainty gold necklaces.
Diamond Pendant: $$$
Rose Gold Pendant: Kendra Scott $65
Gold Bar Pendant: Argento Vivo $68

Favorite style tee's:
Lace up. I like this one from LF the best out of all of the ones that I own. LF has the best lace up tees right now, because it's easy to throw a high neck tank underneath them if you want a more conservative look. Personally, I just wear it as is.

LF Lace Up Flannel: $$
I know LF has pretty expensive clothing, but it's stuff that I literally cannot find anywhere else, so I don't mind spending some extra money on it. Their clothing also lasts a long time. I have a sweater from them that I still wear 3 years after buying it.
Luckily the lace up trend is everywhere so it won't be hard to find a lace up top. But a lace up flannel is something I'm sure you can't find anywhere else.

THANKS FOR READING. I'm going to try my hardest to at least post once a week for Friday Favorites.
